Volunteer Opportunities in Village Operations

The Village operates based on work teams that do both strategic planning and manage implementation. Each Work Team has a list of tasks, large and small, that keep things moving. Listed below are the various Work Teams with their main responsibilities.

  • Support Resource Development activities with materials and messages
  • Target messages to specific populations
  • Plan and implement logistics and dispatch volunteers for outreach events
  • Refine & implement Marketing Plan
  • Support work of all teams with print, email, newsletter, farmers markets, and social media

Activities Team:
  • Research and track social, educational, cultural and fitness activities
  • Plan ongoing activities for community building

  • Develop  & implement Resource Development Plan
  • Identify funding sources to supplement member fees and to provide scholarships
  • Network with local community governments, organizations and vendors to identify potential donors and sponsors
  • Raise cash reserve for ongoing Village operational expenses

Communications/Technology Team
  • Update and maintain user-friendly website, Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • Maintain shared documents and communications from the Village to Village Network and Villages NW that are needed by various teams
  • Send out email communications, including newsletters, event reminders, volunteer hours reminders, and fundraising appeals
  • Collaborate with other Village Teams to provide website and social media content
  • Help to train volunteers on use of Club Express, our cloud-based database and website management system

  • Identify, recruit and train volunteers
  • Use Village 101 and Volunteer Exploration sessions to connect with potential volunteers and help find the right niche for them
  • Train volunteers using the Volunteer Manual and at informal sessions
  • Provide feedback and show appreciation for volunteer efforts

Services Team
  • Research and track services & strategic partners
  • Arrange for background checks of vendors and partners
  • Negotiate and secure discount contracts with vendors and strategic partners
  • Educate volunteers/members about service resources and facilitate use of them
  • Oversee, evaluate and update available services resources

Membership Team
  • Develop and implement plan for member recruitment
  • Update and maintain all forms and informational documents for members
  • Evaluate member satisfaction

Administration, Finance and Project Management Team
  • Provide project management to keep us on track as we launch and beyond
  • Create and implement Business Plan, including Village budget
  • Track finances
